the suspect now in custody, according to the NYPD.

York, NY — A tragic series of stabbings across Manhattan on
Monday morning claimed the lives of two men and left one woman critically
injured, as reported by the New York City Police Department. Authorities have
apprehended a 51-year-old male suspect believed to be homeless. The NYPD has
not disclosed his identity and confirmed no other suspects are being sought.
The
violence began at 8:22 a.m. when a 36-year-old man, working near Chelsea, was
fatally stabbed. Later, at 10:27 a.m., a 68-year-old fisherman was attacked
near the East River and succumbed to his injuries. A third victim, a
36-year-old woman, was stabbed near the United Nations Headquarters at 10:55
a.m. and remains in critical condition.
A
cab driver witnessed one incident and alerted police, leading to the suspect’s
arrest. Two bloody knives were recovered. Mayor Eric Adams highlighted the case
as an example of systemic failure in criminal justice and mental health.
