swiftly responded to the scene near Hainault subway station, apprehending a
36-year-old suspect in a residential neighborhood. Despite the severity of the

toll of the attack became apparent as Chief Superintendent Stuart Bell
addressed the media, describing the events as "truly horrific."

The Metropolitan
Police detailed the sequence of events, indicating that the incident began with
reports of a vehicle crashing into a house, followed by reports of multiple

clad in a yellow hoodie, brandishing a long sword or knife in the vicinity of
