UK police arrest third man in arson case targeting Prime Minister Keir Starmer’s London home and linked properties.
UK police
arrested a third man linked to a fire at Prime Minister Keir Starmer’s London
home.
London,
England — A third suspect has been arrested in connection with arson attacks in
North London, including one targeting the home of UK Prime Minister Keir
Starmer.
The
34-year-old man was detained on Monday morning in the Chelsea area of southwest
London. Authorities say he is suspected of conspiracy to commit arson with
intent to endanger life. London’s Metropolitan Police confirmed the arrest in a
public statement.
This
follows the earlier arrests of Roman Lavrynovych, a 21-year-old Ukrainian
national, and a 26-year-old man whose identity has not been made public.
Lavrynovych has already been charged with three counts of arson with intent to
endanger life. All three incidents occurred last week and are believed to be
linked.
One of
the fires broke out at a property in Kentish Town, North London, where Starmer
lived with his wife and children before moving into 10 Downing Street in July
2024. The house, which Starmer still owns, suffered damage at the entrance. No
injuries were reported.
Additional
fires occurred outside an apartment building in Islington and involved a Toyota
RAV4 vehicle in Kentish Town. Both locations and the vehicle are linked to
Starmer, as confirmed during a court hearing at Westminster Magistrates’ Court
on Friday.
Given the
prime minister’s involvement, the case is being handled by counter-terrorism
officers. Police continue to investigate the possibility of political
motivations behind the coordinated attacks.
Prime
Minister Starmer has condemned the incidents, describing them as “an attack on
all of us, on our democracy and the values we stand for.” Security around his
personal and official residences has reportedly been increased.
Investigators
have urged the public to come forward with any relevant information as they
build a broader picture of the case and any potential network behind the
attacks.
