In a tragic incident, a 29-year-old woman has been taken into police
custody on suspicion of murder after the death of a two-year-old child.
The child was discovered injured at Juniper Square, a recently developed
residential area in Hemel Hempstead, around 16:40 BST on Sunday.
Despite efforts to provide emergency treatment, the child succumbed to
their injuries shortly after being transported to the hospital.
The woman was subsequently arrested in connection with the incident and
is currently being held in police custody.
Armed police units were deployed to the scene to offer specialized first
aid using equipment from their vehicles. Hertfordshire Police have launched an
investigation into the tragic event, with the Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire, and
Hertfordshire major crime unit leading the inquiry.
The spokesperson for the police stated, "A child was taken to the
hospital for emergency treatment but unfortunately died a short time later. A
29-year-old woman has been arrested on suspicion of murder in connection with
the incident and an investigation is now under way... She remains in police
custody at this time."
