NBA playoff match-ups determined after thrilling final day of regular season. Get ready for intense basketball action
In a dramatic conclusion to the NBA regular season, all 30 teams were in
action on Sunday, with playoff and play-in seeds hanging in the balance until
the final game.
Sixteen out of 20 postseason berths were still undecided, including a
historic three-way battle for the top seed in the Western Conference.
The Oklahoma City Thunder emerged victorious, securing the No. 1 seed
after a dominant performance against the Dallas Mavericks. Star point guard
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander emphasized the team's commitment and hard work,
propelling them to the top spot.
Despite a strong showing, the reigning champion Denver Nuggets settled
for the No. 2 seed, while the Minnesota Timberwolves, despite their loss,
locked in the third seed.
In the East, the Boston Celtics claimed the No. 1 seed early on and
await the outcome of the Play-In tournament. The New York Knicks clinched the
No. 2 seed with a thrilling overtime victory over the Chicago Bulls, marking
their best record in over a decade.
Elsewhere in the East, the Milwaukee Bucks and Cleveland Cavaliers
missed opportunities to secure higher seeds, leaving them in third and fourth
place, respectively. The Miami Heat, last year's Finals runner-up, finished
eighth and will face the Philadelphia 76ers in a Play-In matchup.
The NBA Play-In tournament, scheduled through April 19, will determine
the final playoff spots before the first round tips off on April 20 and 21. The
NBA Finals are set to commence on June 6.
