In a tragic incident early Saturday
morning, actor Johnny Wactor, known for his role as Brando Corbin on General
Hospital, was fatally shot in Los Angeles. The 37-year-old actor's death has
sent shockwaves through the entertainment community and left his family and
fans in deep mourning.
According to reports from TMZ, Wactor
was with a co-worker when they noticed three men tampering with his car. The
suspects were allegedly attempting to steal the vehicle's catalytic converter.
Scarlett Wactor, Johnny's mother, confirmed that her son did not resist or try
to confront the men, but one of them shot him before fleeing the scene.
Paramedics quickly arrived and
transported Wactor to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead shortly after.
As of now, authorities have not released descriptions of the suspects, and it
remains unclear how much is known about their identities. Scarlett Wactor
expressed her hope for swift arrests and described her son as a loving young
man whose untimely death has left a significant void in their family.
Wactor's portrayal of Brando Corbin on
General Hospital earned him widespread recognition and a dedicated fanbase. He
appeared in nearly 200 episodes from 2020 to 2022. His character, Brando, was
notably married to Sasha Corbin, played by Sofia Mattsson.
Wactor's acting career began in 2007
with a role in the Lifetime series Army Wives. Over the years, he appeared in
numerous TV shows, including Siberia, Agent X, Animal Kingdom, Criminal Minds,
Training Day, NCIS, The OA, Westworld, Station 19, and Barbee Rehab. His
versatility extended to feature films and short films, with credits in Snap
Judgment, Menthol, USS Indianapolis: Men of Courage, Cold Soldiers, and
Trapper's Edge. Most recently, he was seen in the film Supercell and the horror
anthology Dead Talk Tales Volume I. He also contributed voiceover work to the
video game Call of Duty: Vanguard.
Wactor's connection with General
Hospital fans was profound. In a Soap Opera Digest interview, he expressed his
gratitude for their support, saying, "So many of [the fans] were so
supportive and lovely and I’ve gotten to meet a lot of them through fan events
and speak with some of them on [X] and Instagram. I’ve never been on a show
that had such a large fan base. It was all new to me and it was a blessing. It
made it fun to go to work and then be excited about seeing people react to the
storylines you were in. That they actually cared was really cool. I’m grateful
for the fans, for fans of General Hospital and Brando Corbin and of mine. They
made my time on the show all the sweeter."
Johnny Wactor is survived by his mother,
Scarlett, and his younger brothers, Lance and Grant. His untimely death is a
heartbreaking loss for his family, friends, and the many fans who admired his
work.
