Blaze Engulfs London Bus in Twickenham, Prompting Street Closure
A London bus was engulfed in flames on
Richmond Road in Twickenham on Saturday afternoon, resulting in the destruction
of the single-storey vehicle.
Dramatic video footage captured from the
scene depicted firefighters combatting towering flames and thick black smoke
billowing into the air.
The incident occurred at approximately
13:18 BST when the 490 bus suddenly burst into flames. Firefighters swiftly
responded to the emergency, and by 14:26 BST, the blaze was brought under
control, reported the Fire Brigade.
Fortunately, no injuries were reported
in the incident. However, as investigations into the cause of the fire
continue, authorities have closed the road for the remainder of the day.
The London Fire Brigade deployed five
fire engines and approximately 30 firefighters to tackle the blaze, which took
just over an hour to extinguish.
As the investigation unfolds, commuters
and residents are advised to avoid the area impacted by the incident.
