Trump plans military-led mass deportations amid declared national emergency.
President-elect
Trump plans mass deportations using military resources, sparking legal and
political debates over his second-term immigration policies.
New
York City, NY — President-elect Donald Trump announced
that his administration will declare a national emergency to conduct mass
deportations of undocumented immigrants, marking a significant escalation in
immigration enforcement. The statement was made in response to a post by
Judicial Watch president, Tom Fitton, on 8 November.
Trump,
in a social media post, affirmed the intention by responding
"TRUE!!!". His team, including Tom Homan, the former acting director
of ICE, and Stephen Miller, a known advocate of stringent immigration measures,
has been appointed to lead this initiative. Homan has been named “border czar,”
while Miller will serve as a policy advisor with influence over Homeland
Security.
South
Dakota Governor Kristi Noem is slated to become the next DHS secretary. Trump's
plans include the deployment of state national guard units from supportive
states into less cooperative ones and potential large-scale detention
facilities.
While
Trump’s commitment to fulfill his campaign pledge garners support among his
base, critics argue the program faces significant legal and logistical
challenges. The American Immigration Council estimates that deporting a million
people annually would cost over $960 billion within a decade.
