Prince William Delayed Announcing Kate Middleton’s Cancer Diagnosis
United Kingdom – The British
royal family faced a difficult year in 2024, with King Charles III and Princess
Kate Middleton both diagnosed with cancer. Now, Jason Knauf, Prince William’s
former aide, has revealed why the announcement of Kate’s illness was delayed.
2024 was
one of the most challenging years for Prince William. As the world learned
about King Charles III’s cancer diagnosis, Kate Middleton became the subject of
widespread speculation due to her absence from public life.
In an interview
with 60 Minutes Australia, Jason Knauf explained that William was "deeply
affected" by the situation. "It was horrible, absolutely horrible.
It’s the lowest I’ve ever seen him," he admitted.
According
to Knauf, the main reason for delaying the announcement was to protect their
children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis. William and Kate
wanted to prioritise their well-being before making the news public. They chose
to wait until the Easter holidays in 2024 to explain the situation to them,
preventing them from learning about it through the media.
Fortunately,
in early 2025, Kate Middleton announced that her cancer was in remission.
Although she has missed some official engagements, the Princess of Wales will
return to royal duties on 1 March with a visit to Pontypridd, where she will
meet communities affected by severe flooding.
