Couple Sentenced to 100 Years for Heinous Abuse of Adopted Sons
Atlanta,
Georgia — A married couple, once celebrated members of Georgia's
LGBTQ community, has been sentenced to 100 years in prison each for the
horrifying sexual abuse of their two adopted sons.
William
Zulock, 34, and Zachary Zulock, 36, were convicted of multiple charges,
including aggravated sodomy, child molestation, incest, and sexual exploitation
of children. Both men pleaded guilty, and a judge affirmed the maximum penalty,
ensuring they will spend the rest of their lives behind bars.
“These
two defendants created a house of horrors,” said District Attorney Randy
McGinley during sentencing. “Their depravity was met with the strength and
resolve of their young victims, who inspire us all with their bravery.”
The
abuse reportedly began when the boys were as young as three and five years old,
spanning several years. Authorities uncovered extensive evidence, including
over seven terabytes of videos, surveillance footage, and text messages
detailing the abuse. The material was initially flagged through an
investigation by the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.
The
Zulocks, who adopted the boys in 2018 through a now-defunct Christian agency,
used their affluent lifestyle in suburban Atlanta to mask their crimes.
Investigators revealed that the couple filmed and distributed abuse footage
while communicating with other pedophiles.
Two
accomplices, Hunter Lawless and Luis Vizcarro-Sanchez, were also implicated in
the case. Lawless received a 20-year sentence, and Vizcarro-Sanchez was
sentenced to 60 years for related offenses.
This
case has reignited concerns over adoption processes and background checks, as
Zachary Zulock was previously accused of sexual misconduct in 2011, a claim
that went uninvestigated.
The
victims, now 12 and 10 years old, are reportedly in a safe environment,
recovering from years of abuse.
