Israeli
Airstrike Kills 87 in Northern Gaza, Health Ministry Reports
Beit
Lahia, Gaza - In the early hours of Sunday, an Israeli airstrike on Beit Lahia
in northern Gaza claimed the lives of at least 87 people, according to the
enclave's health ministry. Among the victims were children and civilians who
had sought refuge in residential buildings. Rescuers worked through the night,
pulling bodies from the rubble, while hospitals became overwhelmed with the
injured.
The
attack flattened several multi-story buildings, leaving destruction in its
wake. Kamal Adwan Hospital, where many victims were taken, reported a shortage
of medical supplies and staff to handle the influx. With rescue efforts
ongoing, the death toll is expected to rise as more bodies are retrieved from
the debris.
Graphic
footage captured the devastation, showing bodies of children and families
covered in debris. Grieving relatives filled the hospital corridors, awaiting
news of their loved ones. The Gaza health ministry stated that 27 bodies had
been retrieved, and at least 60 others remain buried under the rubble.
Israel
has issued multiple evacuation orders for northern Gaza as its military
escalates operations in the area. However, survivors claim they were bombed
after following Israel’s advice to relocate. “We call on the international
community to end this war,” a survivor said, describing how the bombing
destroyed civilian homes.
The
Israeli Defense Forces have not commented on the latest strike but previously
dismissed similar death toll reports as exaggerated. As the conflict
intensifies, civilians continue to suffer from the relentless airstrikes and
worsening humanitarian crisis.
