Two Men Arrested
Following Fatal Attack on XL Bully Dog in Slough
Slough, England | In a
tragic incident that has sparked outrage among animal welfare advocates, two
men have been arrested in connection with the fatal attack on an XL bully dog
in Slough. Thames Valley Police confirmed that the dog was “deliberately
attacked and seriously injured” on September 29, ultimately leading to its
death despite emergency medical treatment.
The arrests were made
on Friday at a residential address in Slough, where police also discovered a
quantity of cannabis during their search. The suspects, aged 20 and 22, both
from Slough, face multiple charges. The younger man has been arrested on
suspicion of criminal damage, causing unnecessary suffering to a protected
animal, possession with intent to supply a Class B controlled drug, and
possession of an offensive weapon. The older suspect has been similarly charged,
minus the weapons charge.
According to a police
spokesperson, the tragic incident occurred around 6:05 PM on Burnham Lane.
Despite immediate medical attention, the dog succumbed to its injuries, leading
to widespread condemnation and calls for justice from animal rights
organizations and local residents.
"This incident
highlights the ongoing issue of animal cruelty that must be addressed within
our community," said a spokesperson for the local animal welfare group.
"We urge anyone with information regarding this incident to come forward
and assist the authorities in ensuring that those responsible are held
accountable."
Following their arrest,
both men have been released on police bail, with conditions requiring them to
return to the station in January for further inquiries. Additionally, a
31-year-old man from Slough was also arrested during the operation on suspicion
of possession with intent to supply a controlled drug of Class B. He, too, has
been released on bail until January.
As investigations continue,
Thames Valley Police are appealing to the public for any information that may
assist in their inquiries. Anyone who witnessed the attack or has relevant
information is urged to contact the police or report anonymously through
Crimestoppers.
The tragic fate of the
XL bully dog has ignited discussions on social media about animal rights and
the need for stricter penalties for those found guilty of animal cruelty. Local
residents have expressed their condolences and anger, demanding justice for the
dog and urging the community to take a stand against such acts of violence.
